Reza Barani was a second-grade student.
Reza’s father told the people: “Reza was in the second grade of primary school and had begun Taekwondo with great excitement and enthusiasm. He passed the belt ranks one by one, with discipline and perseverance, and had recently earned his green belt. Reza’s dream and goal was to run around the Olympic mat with the flag of Iran after winning a gold medal. He wanted, in the future, to proudly take a victory lap in the taekwondo shiai-jo with the Iranian flag.”
His coach, Master Abdi, had also said: “Reza’s outlook is different from the others. Even at this young age, whatever I tell him, he follows precisely, both in class and at home, with perseverance. He is well-mannered and talented. A bright future awaits this taekwondo athlete from Minab.”
He added that even during rest times between training sessions, Reza used his creative mind to make special spaces with the club steps and chairs, so that he and his friends could enjoy them.
It was also said that when martyr Reza Barani’s father was at work and heard about the incident and the martyrdom of the students, he said only one sentence:
“Ya Hussein.”
