Maliheh Naeimi was a first-grade teacher, one of the teachers who lost their lives that day in the U.S.-Israeli air attack.
At around 11:15 that morning, Maliheh called the mother of one of her first-grade students, Ehsan Saleminia, and told her to come quickly because the situation was not safe. His mother ran toward the school. When she arrived, the building was in ruins. Ehsan was killed in the attack, as was his teacher.
Another of her first-grade students, Homayoun Zeinali, was found in the arms of his teacher. It was as if Mrs. Naeimi, his father says, had gathered Homayoun and several other children beneath her arms to protect them.
Her last known acts were those of a teacher: warning a mother to come for her child, and holding the children close when the school came down.
