Fatemeh Asgari Minabi

She Had Already Gone

Fatemeh Asgari Minabi, a teacher, a memorizer of the Quran, and a servant of Imam Reza’s shrine, was another one of the martyred teachers of the Minab school. Like the other teachers, in the time between the announcement of the school’s closure and the arrival of the students’ parents, she remained at the school with sacrifice and devotion, waiting to hand the students over to their families. She did not go home.

Her mother says that only a few minutes before the invaders’ bombing, she had spoken with her daughter on the phone, and they were supposed to go to Mashhad together.

Her mother says:

“My daughter called me. She said, ‘I want to go to Mashhad.’ Then she asked, ‘Should I write your name as well?’

We were supposed to go together. The call ended, and immediately the sound came.

My heart suddenly began to boil with fear. I went into the street, calling her name loudly.

No matter how far I went, I could not reach Fatemeh.

I searched until the end of the night. She had been martyred at the very beginning.”
